UMJETNIČKA KOLONIJA - DANILOVGRAD / 2012
Prošlo je četiri decenije od vremena osnivanja Umjetničke kolonije u Danilovgradu –
urbanom središtu pitome bjelopavlićke ravnice. Za divno čudo, danas, davno zamišljeni
danilovgradski umjetnički projekat, nesumnjivo se u Crnoj Gori pozicionirao kao ugledna
internacionalna likovna manifestacija i unikatni reprezent savremene skulptorske djelatnosti
druge polovine XX i početka XXI vijeka. Takav status, slobodno možemo reći,
kulturološkog fenomena omogućila je upornost i kvalitetan rad kolektiva institucije,
podrška lokalnih uprava, te entuzijazam i aktivnosti brojnih crnogorskih skulptora.
Teze o crnogorskoj skulpturi, kao relativno mladoj likovnoj disciplini, kvalitativno i
kvantitativno podređenoj slikarstvu, lako se mogu negirati čak i najpovršnijom analizom
domicilnog istorijsko – umjetničkog razvoja. Danilovgradska storija o crnogorskom
skulptorskom bratstvu i njihovim inostranim gostima, nastavak je jedne grandiozne,
duboko utemeljene tradicije koja se u kontinuitetu može pratiti od praistorije, preko antike
i srednjeg vijeka pa do početka moderne. Carski portret Domicijana, arhitektonska
plastika i nadgrobna skulptura Duklje i Municipijuma „S“, kotorski klesari preromanike
i romanike, veličanstveni ciborijum katedrale Sv. Tripuna, barska klesarska radionica
na čelu sa Mihom, skulptura portala patronalne crkve manastira Morače, duborez na
ikonostasima i okovanim krstovima, metalni reljefi na djelima primijenjene umjetnosti,
bokeljski relikvijari i skulptura baroknih oltara... – pojave i djela su ništa manje vrijedni i
dragocjeni od arhitektonskih i slikarskih.
Među brojnim pozitivnim ocjenama o karakteru i aktivnostima danilovgradske institucije,
čini se prikladnim apostrofirati činjenicu da su njeni projekti i realizacije bili
presudni za obnovu velike skulptorske tradicije, reafirmaciju skulpture kao savremenog
likovnog medija i inspiraciju u trnovitom artističkom putu nizu crnogorskih skulptora. U tom kontekstu, s obzirom na značaj i rezultate, logičnim postupkom možemo smatrati
određivanje državnog statusa Umjetničke kolonije u Danilovgradu što bi podrazumijevalo
stabilno budžetsko finansiranje i dopunu postojećih prostornih kapaciteta i galerijske
opreme – kao državna institucija, ne treba sumnjati, danilovgradski umjetnički sistem
služio bi na čast crnogorskoj kulturi.
U okviru višegodišnje prakse i 2012. godine, Umjetnička kolonija organizuje i realizuje
izložbu crnogorske savremene skulpture. Rijetka je to prilika uvida i jednog od
mogućih viđenja u strukturu aktuelne domaće skulptorske scene koja je na ovogodišnjoj
smotri zastupljena sa impresivnim stvaralačkim skupom. Čine ga tridesetak umjetnika,
raznih generacija, prepoznatljivih originalnih poetika od kojih određen broj karakteriše
multimedijalnost. Među njima ima dobitnika niza stručnih nagrada i priznanja, te stvaralaca
internacionalne reputacije. Usljed ograničenosti teksta kataloškog komentara
praktično je nemoguće pojedinačno analizirati izložene radove no u smislu nekih najopštijih
opservacija mogu se uočiti: heterogenost materijala i tehnika; tematska raznovrsnost;
individualnost i visok umjetnički kvalitet personalnih poetika; korenspondiranje sa
tokovima aktuelnih svjetskih umjetničkih praksa. U svakom slučaju imamo zadovoljstvo
da se upoznamo sa kvalitetnim presjekom crnogorske skulptorske djelatnosti, takvog
umjetničkog nivoa koji bi zadovoljio izlagačke kriterijume u bilo kom razvijenom svjetskom
umjetničkom centru – još jedan bitan doprinos za pozicioniranje danilovgradske
institucije kao državne ustanove visokog ranga.

CONTEMPORARY MONTENEGRIN SCULPTURE 2012

It has been four decades since the Art Colony – urban center of the tame Bjelopavići
plain, was established. Today, miraculously, long ago conceived art project in Danilovgrad,
is undoubtedly positioned within Montenegro as a renowned International art manifestation
and unique representative of contemporary sculptural activities in the second half
of the twentieth and early twenty first century. We can safely say that such a status - of
a cultural phenomenon - is made possible thanks to persistence and quality work of
institutional staff, local government support and enthusiasm and activity of numerous
Montenegrin sculptors.
Thesis of Montenegrin sculpture, as a relatively young art discipline, as qualitatively and
quantitatively subordinated to painting, can be easily denied even by the most superficial
analysis of indigenous historical – artistic development. Story of Danilovgrad about Montenegrin
sculptural brotherhood and their foreign guests is a sequel of one grandiose, deeply
grounded tradition which can be continually traced from prehistory through antiquity and
the Middle Ages to early Modern. Imperial portrait of Domitian, architectural plastics and
sepulchral sculptures of Doclea and Municipium „S“, stonemasons from Kotor from pre- Romanticism
and Romanticism, majestic ciborium of the St. Tripun cathedral, Bar stone carving
workshop led by Miho, portal sculpture of Morača Monastery Patronal Church, woodcarving
on iconostasis and encased crosses, metal reliefs on the works of applied art, relics and
sculpture of baroque altars of Boka Kotorska... – represent occurrences and actions no
less valuable and precious than those architectural and painting.
Among the many positive remarks on the character and activities of institution from
Danilovgrad, it seems appropriate to emphasize the fact that its projects and realizations
were crucial for the reconstruction of the great sculptural tradition, reaffirmation of the
sculpture as a contemporary art media and inspiration on the thorny artistic journey to a series of Montenegrin sculptors. In this context, given the significance and results, determination
of the state status of Art Colony in Danilovgrad can be considered as a logical
procedure, which would imply stable budgetary financing and supplement of the existing
physical capacities and gallery equipment – no doubt, art system of Danilovgrad as a state
institution would honor Montenegrin culture.
In the many years of practice and in 2012, the Art Colony has organized and realized
the exhibition of contemporary Montenegrin sculpture. It is a rare opportunity to review
and one of possible sightings into the current local sculpture scene, which was represented
at this year’s festival with an impressive set of creative artists. It consists of thirty
artists, of various generations, with distinguished original poetics whereof a certain part
has multimedia features. There are several artists among them that were awarded by
a series of professional awards and recognitions, and artists of international reputation
as well. Due to limited text content of catalogue commentary it is practically impossible
to individually analyze exhibited works but in terms of the most general observations we
can distinguish: heterogeneity of materials and techniques; thematic diversity, individuality
and high artistic quality of personal poetics; correspondence with the flow of current
international art practices... In any case, we have the pleasure to be introduced to the
quality section of Montenegrin sculptural activities, of such an artistic level that would
meet the criteria for exhibiting in any developed international artistic center – which
makes another valuable contribution to the positioning of Danilovgrad institution as the
highly ranked state institution.
